Even with the holiday season slowly taking over the apparels, have you noticed how some retail stores have shrunken? It seems that “demarketing” is the hottest bun in the oven this season. Several stores, including a few locations from Anchor Blue have put up internal walls in their stores to split spaces. They leave these temporary walls for what will seem and indefinite period of time.
But don’t panic! This isn’t a move to rid themselves of merchandise and quit through the back door. Au contraire mes amis, it is actually making sales go up. Some of them around 20% and so on. Apparently other stores like Nike, Bloomingdale’s, etc are shrinking their stores.
Perhaps this means the birth of a new kind of store? Like they say, “less is more”. May be the feel of a cozier environment is making the difference, a more personalized attention from whomever is on the other side of the cashier. Or the lesser number of choices for the customer. Instead of finding yourself in a maze of clothes, just find the perfect piece for you from among a small selection?
