Two weeks in after Google+’s launch, Microsoft mistakenly uploaded a new social network called “Tulalip”. According to this newsflash published on Geeky Gadgets Microsoft launched it on their web address Socl.com. Later on, after leaving their green screened log-in interface exposed to the world, Microsoft published an apology.
Apparently, somebody at Microsoft hit the wrong button when in the process of designing the social network. It makes you wonder, why would Microsoft come up with a social network if they are so closely bonded with Facebook? Especially after the Facebook-Skype plug-in announcement last week.
That same article mentioned on top also shows a print screen from Tulalip’s interface. It clearly shows you can log in either with your Twitter or Facebook account. So what does Tulalip really do? There are thousands of other social networks and apps that link up to your Twitter and Facebook accounts, which leaves us with little clue on what it is about.
Lately Microsoft has been very busy with new projects all over the place. From acquiring Skype and enabling their partnership with Facebook, to business meetings with Nokia’s high management in Reykjavik. As reported on All Things Digital both companies had a happy time together on their small vacation and planned their new smartphone roll out after months of online communication through “Halo” conference software.
Too much going on for Microsoft or just a simple slip from someone’s finger on the mouse click? Whatever it was, they flashed us with their new endeavors, even if just for a small time lapse.
