Major news for Klout users, to compliment their social network package, FourSquare is now included in their Klout influencemeter. For those of you who don’t have a Klout account yet or don’t know what it’s about, here’s a quick guide-through.
Klout is a social influencemeter where your interactions in Twitter, Linked in and Facebook are taken into account to end up with an influence score. A very important feature here is your score on what topics you are most influential about. Say perhaps you tweet or share content about a certain issue over and over again. Klout takes this and perceives that you are either an expert or an avid follower of that subject.
So as of today, FourSquare is the fourth social network to be included and measured to calculate your influence. Klout gathers data from all your linked accounts and does this on a daily basis.
Why FourSquare? As a FourSquare user you either leave tips about the venues you visit, or you follow the tips you find when you check-in a certain place. In fact, according to Klout’s Reports, 2/3 of FourSquare users leave and use tips, from which 80% have used them. So you see the evidence? You can be influential about what product a customer will buy when they go into a store. You canliterally alter buying behavior. It only makes sense that Klout includes this into your influence score.
This also means that companies and businesses need to start paying more attention to these scores. Their products rely today more than ever on user tips. There is now a clear solid number on just how influential people can be on industry revenue.
Use this new scoring source to your advantage, and become more than just the mayor of your favorite coffee shop.
